Smart Thermostats Connect your Heating System to the Internet
Imagine being able to change the temperature or switch your heating off and on from your smartphone when you're out and about!? Well you don have too...
These use your wifi connection to connect to your phone! The advantages of a smart thermostat is the flexibility it can give you. Now, if you are someone who likes routine then you maybe don't need this as much, as you wont need to change the thermostat all that often due to your lifestyle. However, if you are someone whose schedule changes frequently, then being able to change it remotely is a huge benefit, saving you money and giving you peace of mind.
Smart thermostats typically cost anywhere between £100 and £250, depending on make and model. Most brands also offer professional installation, which usually adds about £50 to £100, but some can be easy to install yourself.

In addition to being able to wirelessly control your heating with your devices, you can sync the thermostats to your home automation devices. Most can work with Amazon Echo, Google Home but Microsoft’s Cortana and Apple’s HomeKit are more limited with their connectivity. So be sure to check which thermostat is compatible with your set up already.
Once you've connected your thermostat to your smart home device, you should be able to ask Alexa (Amazon Echo), Cortana or Google etc, to set your heating at a certain temperature, increase or decrease the heating, or check what temperature your home is at – among other funky features.
